sometimes i look up at the sky  my ceiling

and i thank whatever higher power (god, science, fuzzy red slippers…)

for the great blessing that no one sees me when i’m in my room alone

because…i’m sure that i’m so embarassing that i’d be cast out of society 

and forced to live at the bottom of the ocean with bionic gill implants.
